A presentation of our research's background.

Every research starts with a problem. So is ours.

"Do student’s perceptions and satisfaction are affected by online class engagements and online learning?"

Therefore, by conducting this research, we hope to see how online class engagement will affect student's perception and satisfaction in online learning.

Research Objective

- The aim of this research is to look at the review of students' perceptions of learning and satisfaction in online learning.

Importance of Study

  • This study will help lecturers and students to identify the variables that attract students to learn.

  • This study will overview how every variable may affect students’ satisfaction in learning.

  • This study can be use to identify the variables that contribute the most in regards of student’s perceived learning and student satisfaction.

Learning is definitely essential in life to the par that it should not be halted for any reason it might be. Back in 2020, the world was shocked by the news of COVID-19 and lives has changed since then. Including the learners, students went through a change of learning methods. Drastically switching over to the online learning from the traditional face-to-face learning. Online learning or also known as e-learning has garnered a lot of attention since there are mixed opinions concerning this method of learning. Some sees this method on a good side, and some do not.

On the bright side, e-learning makes learning flexible. The recorded lectures can contribute a lot to a student’s learning experience as they can always refer back to the recorded lecture to enhance their knowledge. It can also help student that cannot attend the class to catch-up

with the learning process. However, some students might lack interest to study during online classes. For them, it is harder to clarify tough concepts during online classes compared to the physical class thus leading them to earn lower grades. This mixed situation has caused the researchers, educationists, and other professionals to be eager to find the end conclusion on whether e-learning method works better than the traditional method. Examining student satisfaction and inspiration is the best way to find the answer. Many comparative research have been undertaken to determine if face-to-face or virtual or hybrid learning are more effective. Through e-learning, students are more dependent on themselves to find answers or to acquire more knowledge. The course completion, students’ satisfaction, and also their motivation level is seen increasing as they practice the online learning method. The shortcoming of it would be lack of student’s motivation, satisfaction, and attendance of some students. In the end, it will always be the course design that plays an important role in achieving positive outcomes and, as a result, affects student satisfaction regardless of styles of learning.

The COVID19 pandemic has forced every educational institution to shift to online learning, despite the fact that no one was prepared for it. Many studies have identified the transition to online learning to be an abrupt but highly needed step to keep the learning process going. The abruptness of this transition sparked a discussion about learning quality and student satisfaction. The aim of this research is to look at the review of students' perceptions of learning and satisfaction. Student satisfaction may be influenced by the mediating variable of students' perceived learning during this crisis. Moreover, the direct impact of variables on student satisfaction may also be investigated in this research. The independent variables are divided into two parts which are online class engagement and online learning. Online class engagement is consist of interaction and student motivation whereas, online learning is consist of course structure and instructors facilitation or knowledge. Since the students were not mentally prepared for such a shift, this research would look at how they perceived the transition's outcomes and how satisfied they are with it.
